The Volkswagen Foundation is hosting a "Theme Week on Ethics of Science: Ethical Dimensions of AI Research and AI in Research" from August 07 to 09, 2024. The "Lower Saxony Impulse Professorship" addresses academics approaching the end of their early career phase up to a maximum of ten years after completing their doctorate.

The "Lower Saxony Professorship" addresses exceptional academics who are professionally excellent and have several years of (management) experience in the science system. They are expected to have the capacity to shape the profile and structure of their university location and impact the research region at large.

The funding line 'Collaborative projects' of this initiative is primarily targeted at the natural sciences and engineering. 

The title of the new program for the promotion of research and education in Lower Saxony is "zukunft.niedersachsen". Thanks to additional funding of 580 million euros, three future fields are to be massively developed in order to make Lower Saxony visible as a research  location, also internationally.
