Call for papers: Conference "Universities and the Public Good"

From September 10 to 12, 2025, the conference "Universities and the Public Good: Research, Education, and Democracy since 1945" will take place at Herrenhausen Palace, Hanover. The call for papers is aimed at established academics (general workshop) and young academics (Young Scholars Forum). Deadline: January 19, 2025

To better understand the role of higher education in the current international political climate, the conference Universities and the Public Good: Research, Education, and Democracy since 1945 at Herrenhausen Palace, Hanover, will provide an opportunity to discuss the history of colleges and universities in North America and Europe since 1945.

As part of the conference, the Young Scholars Forum gives doctoral students the opportunity to receive feedback on their pre-submitted work from experienced researchers, discuss their work and network at a critical stage in their careers.

Entries can be submitted that examine the history of colleges and universities in the transatlantic region as centres of education and research since 1945.
